Hi there!
I really like your blog. I just had a kid and I do face the same problems as you faced many months ago. I had the problem of bottle teats and i was glad i read your posts in 0-3 months darius and went to change the teats for her. Now she’s still slow drinker but much better than the last time. From your post i have the impression that you rent a car to bring your family out for trips. Possible to intro the car rental company to me because I am trying hard to find a company that has the pick up point here so it is easy for us to pick up and drop the car with an infant in hand.
Great job with your blog!
Hi Jocelyn,
Thanks for your support and glad you’ve found our experiences useful. ^^
Regarding the car rental, we are renting from the previous NTUC Car Co-op (now known as Car Club). Currently it has two Auto cars opposite MRT Station and one Auto car near here so it should be pretty convenient for you. Hope this helps.
Hi, thank you for writing such wonderful and informative blog. Every weekend I have to rack my brains as to where should I bring my 10 mths old son. Ur blog have provided me with lots of choices and information which me and my husband found it very useful. Great job and keep on writing
Hi Ning,
Glad you’ve found our experiences useful, and thanks for the encouragement! ^^
Hi,
I really enjoying reading yr blog. Very informative for first-time mum.
My 4 months old gal has issues drinking milk too, refuse to drink and/ or drink very little. Can you pls share the ‘breaking up’ method u use? Thanks.
Thanks Pearl. I realised we hadn’t update this page for a while. oops! I think you were referring to this post? http://www.ourbabyoflove.com/2008/11/04/stirrings-the-culprit/
After the inital spoonful of powder, mix it first by gently breaking up the lumps of milk that hadn’t dissolved properly. Just press/poke on them with the mixing tool or clean chopstick. THEN only put in the next spoonful of milk powder. This will cause less lumping of the powder and thus less gas introduced.
“poking at the formula powder coagulating at the sides, letting it ‘dance’ up a little, instead of going in a circular motion.”
Hello there Darius’s mummy & daddy!
I chanced upon your blog when my boy was 4mths old. Enjoyed your blog very much, really informative & it’s really nice to see both parents blogging together! Was wondering how did you start off to teach Darius baby signing? Is there a book for reference to the types of signs for different objects?
Hello Camie! Thanks for liking our blog. I started by learning signs from reading these sites, 1) http://www.babies-and-sign-language.com/sign-apple.html. I got to know how to do a few simple words from here. 2) This site is also pretty useful. http://signingbaby.com/main/?pp_album=main&pp_cat=signing-baby-dictionary.
Someone used this DVD, “Baby Signing Time” on their child and it worked for her but I did not buy it myself. However, her site has free resource videos on how to do the signs. Here’s the blog: http://www.signingtime.com/blog/
I learnt a few simple signs from here too.
In the end, signs didn’t really work out for us that much because Dar is quite passive with his hands and the only sign he really used to effect was “All Done”. No harm trying out and learning though.
