Recaps of Last Week
Dated: 30th of Aug – 5th of Sep 2010
(Didn’t take much photos this week as I was busy with settling the ‘going-back-to-work’ stuff)

I Want to Remember

…Him Wanting to Drink Cold Drinks Lately. But not any cold drink. He wanted to snatch our Lemon Tea when we were eating at McDonald’s and kept whining for it. (since he isn’t allowed to eat the fried stuff, he had nothing to do). It all started when I bought ice cold Longan drink one day and gave him some to drink while we waited for the bus in the heat. His Daddy bought soya milk drink sometimes and gave some to him too. Before, he disliked cold drinks and hot drinks as his mouth/teeth is sensitive to the temperature. (He hates ice-cream!) So it was a surprise that he wanted to drink. From then on, he would start to cry for a drink if he sees us holding any packet drink and is constantly eyeing our green tea and chrysanthemum packet drinks. Still, no soft drinks for him as it’s not healthy. We seldom drink them anyway.

…Some Learning Activities He Did At Home. It’s a routine now to read the Chinese Readers Books every night while I fed him dinner.(self-feeding training is ‘gone’ now. >.<) As long as he is kept occupied with stories or us singing songs, he becomes satisfied and eats mouthful after mouthful. Managed to work on these little puzzles with him but he is still not good at them and have not much interest in puzzles. Does it mean that he is not the ‘problem-solving’ kind?

…His Throwing of the Leaves. Quirk for this week is picking up leaves from the ground and throwing them in front of him (previously, he would pick and hold onto them). He would just do that when he came across some leaves, especially the big pieces. Recently, he only started picking up leaves while playing at playgrounds, throwing them down the slides or from where he stood.

…Him Going Down the Slide By Himself and Climbing Up A Steep Staircase. We are quite cautious parents so we never allowed him to go down by the slide himself without a little help in holding onto one of his hands while he was going down. Also, we seldom allowed him to go down the spiral ones because it is not easy to catch hold of him if he falls. Lately, we noticed he was more stable while going down the slides and not swinging left and right. Hence, this week, we started letting go and allowed him to slide down by himself.  He got better at it and even tried out the spiral ones. While going down, he had good control of his feet and was able to maintain his balance, keeping his body upright at some slides which was quite fast. He was extremely happy when he found out he was able to go down by himself and kept laughing so much. Also, he was able to climb up a steep staircase all by himself even though the steps required him to use his hands to pull himself up and bending his knees at almost 90 degrees. I admired his stamina because he did it many times.

…Him Finally Rocking. He has a fear for anything moving underneath him, example, Kiddy Rides or even sitting on a tricycle pushed by somebody. He would not sit long on it if he could not control the item. While at his grandparent’s house on Sunday, he managed to sit for a while on the rocking crocodile by himself and didn’t request to come down just after two rocks. I guess it was because it was something he could control as when we placed him together with his cousin on the rocking crocodile, he grew afraid and wanted to come down just after one or two rocks. He also sat in another rocking chair and rocked facing his cousin on the crocodile and it was a funny sight as they almost knocked into each other head-on. He also wanted to keep switching the chairs as his cousin was rocking very well compared to him and everytime, it seemed ‘greener on the other side’.
