Thoughts…Recaps July Week 3

Posted Under (Darius' 22-24mths, Everyday Life, Happenings in Dar's Life) on Tuesday, 20 July 2010 at 9:30 am

Lately, I really do not feel like writing much, hence the lack of story posts up here.

It has been almost 3 years since I started writing this blog in 2007 and 2 years since we started co-writing. Since Darius had grown to the toddler stage and I’m going to start work soon, there seemed to be a lack of topics to update on. Things that wouldn’t bore me and thus bore anyone else reading it. Because I really wrote all these posts for myself. So if I do not feel it warrant a read, I wouldn’t even write it. Before he entered CC and was no longer babyish, at least we had home learning posts to update but now…

So I’m really appreciative and somewhat in awe of each and every comment here on the blog by readers who said they enjoyed reading our posts, enjoyed reading about what we do and thought we were ‘good enough’ to learn from. Wow. Really, thank you all!  Because I never thought this little space would grow so big and people would enjoy reading what we thought we were merely documenting and sharing.

Also, Many Thanks for All the Wishes on Darius’ Birthday! I will be copying your wishes into his Birthday photobook when the time comes so he can read of them when he’s older. ^^

It’s a day I do not really wish to remember in detail as they weren’t pleasant memories birthing him and thereafter. Too bad… I have a fantastic memory. I think for me, it’s really more of a ‘Mother suffering day’ and a day I would always think back with mixed feelings of happiness and unpleasantness.

The happiness was seeing him in the morning after, finally in my arms. Still remembered that moment til this day because I didn’t get to look at him much after he was out at around 11pm the day before.

The unpleasantness was the excruciating pain felt during the C-section when the anesthetic didn’t work, surviving only on intravenous fluids throughout the stay (didn’t get to eat much of the nutritious food) and bearing the glares, questions of my condition when even the doctors had no answers. Not forgetting the bill that took all our savings! But well, I’m really lucky. Like what my mum said, lucky to be alive. Lucky to have a healthy boy who only had mild jaundice for a day whereas others had to go in and out of hospital. So maybe it was in our design, that we would suffer to bring a child to this world, so we would treasure and cherish him more? That’s why none of our family members til this day ever asked us that usual question – “Second one?”. I think they had enough of me during that one time…

I’m not sure whether there will ever be another. Even if there is, it will not be in the near future as I will be putting efforts into my career. For now, Darius has taken a huge portion of our hearts and both of us can never imagine life without him.

Other things may change us, but we start and end with the family.

So here’s some photos and words to remember last week. ^^

An Enchanted Night in the Park. A Routine Walk enjoyed by Daddy and Son with the lighting especially ‘special’ that night. Too much dew?

Power Multi-tasking on the computer. An Activity enjoyed by Mummy and Son which happens every weekday afternoon. Son watching Youtube Story Videos on one side, sitting on Mummy’s lap. Mummy doing photo editing for photobook, playing Facebook game, corresponding with Daddy using Skype, reading blogs on Google Reader AND saying the stories along with the Youtube videos for emphasis to Son. Besides this, running to the kitchen when the alarm for the slow cooker rings to add ingredients for porridge, coming back to more comp time and going back to turn it off after it rings for a second time. Note: Only the female species is capable of this…..

A Birthday Celebration that was Quiet (link). Only achievable with anti-social Daddy and Mummy. Son preferred using left hand but was forced to use right hand to colour so he ended up using both hands, an interesting feat. Son got crazy in the Enchanted Forest, running round and round full of laughter while playing catching with Mummy and Daddy. The ‘forest’ seemed like a real forest in that instant with that imp frolicking through the paper trees.

…Of the Telephone that Rings. The phone rang twice. Stopped. Mummy thought, oh well, caller must have hung up. Son came in view, with the telephone in his ear, babbling into it. And Mummy went, “DAR you picked up the telephone?!!!” Daddy took over and caller was still on the line. Oops. Luckily, he was a ChildCare admin wanting to check with us on the waiting list so he was probably used to children picking up his calls.

Mummy was surprised because it was the FIRST time he had ever taken the phone by himself when it rang. Above pic happened when we tried it a second time. This time, with Daddy calling him. He was so in shock at hearing Daddy’s voice through the phone that he looked at the phone, put it to his ear, looked at the phone and put it to his ear again. All the time standing very still. Haha. We love pranks.

…A Love for Playgrounds. Son used to prefer walking here and there and everywhere. But lately, he would stay for a long time at the playground. He would explore one after the next, climbing stairs and especially going down the slides. Otherwise, he would play with the turning, wheeling, tracing and banging objects. Most of the time, he enjoys observing others (erm… little girls? *grin*) at the playground.
