Just one more month to 2 years old.

He loves:
1. The MRT. He must stop to look at it moving along. After I repeatedly told him that’s the M..R…T. He still only pronounces the ‘Tt’ sound and would point to it and tell us, ‘Tt Tt’.
2. The iPod. Not to play games which we would prefer but to watch the Dolphin Media Chinese Stories videos one after another. He would pull us to the shelf to take the ipod for him and if we don’t, he’ll whine and throw a fit.
3. To Watch Dr Seuss’ stories on Youtube and Must specially get down from my lap to go to the toyshelf to dig for his giraffe when Eric Carle’s ‘Head to Toes’ is shown , bringing it back to sit on my lap. Just so that he can compare the graphic to the figurine.

His favourite video on YouTube at the moment:
1.  Green Eggs and Ham (Dr Seuss)
2. Head to Toes (Eric Carle) -seemed that I must get this book too…

He has learnt to read these words and pronounced them (not so accurately) the past month:
(tested him on the bus with the doodle pad while we were on our overseas trip.)
1. Text on body parts such as ‘teeth’, ‘nose’
2. Texts from books such as, ‘floor’, ‘cat’, ‘fish’, ‘toes’, ‘cow’, ‘chair’, ‘sock’, ‘elephant’ , ‘pig’
3. Colour words: ‘Red’, ‘Yellow’, ‘Orange’, ‘Blue’, ‘Purple’.
4. Everyday life: ‘Water’, ‘Yes’, ‘No’ (he says ‘nose’).
5. Tested from ‘Green Eggs and Ham’ book: ‘ham, ‘tree’, ‘mouse’, ‘house’, ‘fox’, ‘box’, ‘boat’, ‘goat’, ‘dark’.

He is able to identify by showing and pointing and saying some:
1. His body parts : Head, ear, eye, nose, mouth, neck, fingers, hands, toes.
(Able to say all except ‘fingers’, ‘hands’)
2. Things around the house (learnt from ‘In A People House’ and ‘The Wocket in My Pocket’ books): table, chairs, sofa, clock, ceiling (point up), floor (point down), wall, door, sun, fork, sock, shoe.
(Able to say all except ‘table’, ‘ceiling’, ‘wall’, ‘shoe’)

His favourite books at the moment: ( two books we bought at MPH recently. Green Eggs and Ham from Kino quite sometime ago)
1. ‘Green Eggs and Ham’- Dr Seuss (a few days ago just started taking this to us constantly: he learnt many words from here and it was a delight to read aloud!)
2. ‘Ten Apples Up On Top’ – Dr Seuss (his first favourite when we first bought the books – a great way to learn counting passively. Love this.)
3. ‘In A People House’ – Theo LeSig (Dr Seuss) (learnt many household stuff from here!)

Activities he did for the past month:
1. He got the ABC Food Fridge as a new toy and has been learning vegetables and foodstuff.
2. He now plays with cars and buses by moving them along the arm of the ikea armchair (he used to only turn the wheels). He loves his long bus.(broken now).
3. He started reading books on his chair.
4. He started saying ‘no’ in response to the questions in the storybook, ‘Where’s Spot?’.
5. He went to AFamosa Resort for the first time.

Notable Words He Said the past month and current:
1. We always asked him to call ‘Papa’ but he suddenly started referring to his Dad as “Buh…dy‘. (learnt Daddy from the book, ‘My World’) Recently, he finally said, ‘Daddy‘ but still refuse to call him, just mumbling to himself. He goes to the door though when I asked him, “Where’s Daddy?”
2. He says, “Me!” and point to himself when we show him his photographs and asked him, “Who’s this?”. He points to himself in the mirror and says, ‘Me!”
3. “There!” He points faraway.

For development:
- He still does not know how to speak in sentences we can understand but jabbers and babbles all the time. He read English words when we show him, name things in English to us but do not know how to speak in a sentence because we converse in Mandarin. He does not know how to speak them in Mandarin. >.<”
- He likes to ‘sing’ with the songs but sounds more like screaming ‘ahhh’.
- He started to walk up and down the stairs without support.
- He is better at taking off his shirt and shorts.
- He now says twelve as ‘goo’ and sixteen accurately. He still says seventeen as ‘sia-pa’ and eighteen as ‘ai- niss’.
- He loves the song, ‘Do-Re-Mi’ (able to sing doh, re, mi, fa, so, la, ti), ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’ (able to open and close his palms to show twinkling) and ‘小白船’ (point faraway to ‘那’,says ‘国’).
