Darius is 21 months already!

Life has gotten busy for me since he started half-day childcare at 20months. Though I took photos of him especially for that day, it was hard to find time to jot down his development and soon, the month was over. >.<

This month I decided to put together a little collage of what he had been experiencing over the past 1 month. Some of them actually worthy of blog posts but we just couldn’t find time enough to write them all out.

So what had he done for the past one month?
1. He adapted very well after one week of being in childcare.
2. He visited Bollywood Veggies with the childcare teachers for the first time.
3. He explored the newly opened playground (part of the Splash Park) at the top storey of Yishun Northpoint. Will try to go back one day to play with the Wet Area.
4. He went on a cycling trip with us along Sungei Sembawang.
5. He cut hair for the third time in a hair salon.
6. He visited the Singapore Art Museum for the first time.
7. He took the trial MRT ride of the Circle Line for the first time.

For development:
- He likes to point at things now. (He points to the fishes in the tank when he sees a picture or hears the word, ‘fish’. He points to the sky when there’s rain in the story. He points to the sky when there’s a moon in the story. He points to the grass and different coloured objects when we say their names. He would also point to the objects themselves and name their colours.)
- He understands many words but does not pronounce them well nor is interested in voicing them out.
- He is only interested in saying academic stuff like alphabets, numbers and colours and only certain words that I had taught him specially during our lessons.
- He is able to point to his head when we utter head. Move his feet when we say, “stamp your feet’.
- His favourite word for the month is “Bas” for bus, because it’s the main transport we take daily.
- He finally says “Bee” now for Bee and makes the Buzz sound.
- He loves scooping the Counter Animals nowadays with a plastic spoon and it’s an activity that he does at least twice daily up to almost 4-5times. The spoon isn’t very good with the animals which is kinda sticky but he was so determined that he has mastered scooping a few up and depositing them into the cupcake tray. Alas, most would still be all over the place. I’ll tell him to keep them back into the bowl and returned to the shelf. An hour later, he’ll take them out and perform the activity all over again.
- He has now changed his “Ai Ni”s to using it for hugs (previously, he kisses and says it). Once we hugged him, he just says the words. Thus, he also says them to Papa now which made him very touched.
- He just loves reciting numbers 11-20 and would prompt me to continue if I stopped at 10. He could only pronounce 14 very accurately though while the rest only sounds a little like it. He recognises the numbers 11-20 and would say his own version (e.g. “ewer” for “11″) when we point to each number and test him. Upon reaching 20, he would do a little clap.
