After a good rest yesterday after our reunion dinners, we were all perked up for today’s activities. It being the first day of the Chinese New Year, we had planned to visit places outdoors instead of getting cooped up at home, with our first stop being Changi Airport Terminal 3.
The last time we went there, we had totally missed out the arrival/departure halls, the shopping and food area, as we had only strolled around the basement area where some of the shops and eateries were. That was why we decided to make a return visit here again.
Darius was all perked up as well, and when we placed him on the ground of the departure hall, he started running and exploring his new open and wide environment excitedly. This is one of the reasons why I enjoy going to Changi Airport too — I like its huge space and the feeling of openness. I used to study for my university exams there too. ^^
Just outside the entrance into the departure area, there was this huge red ornament specially put up for Chinese New Year. Besides looking good and helping to bring out the festive mood, this ornament would also open up every 30 minutes, revealing gold coins under its shell while spewing chocolate gold coins and sweets for the visitors. When we first saw the ornament opened up, I tried to go get a piece too but alas, I was already too late and all the goodies had been snatched up. ^^|
On the 3rd and 4th floor were the restaurants and some shops, which were mostly opened despite the public holidays. The airport continues to operate every single day so it’s no wonder that its shops are too. The Crystal Jade restaurant was closed though, and we took the opportunity to let Darius roam outside its restaurant which he happily enjoyed. We also took some photos outside the restaurant.
When we passed by The Coffee Connoissur, Darius suddenly stopped in front of its ‘TCC’ sign and started to pronounce the letters ‘T’ and ‘C’. He has actually been doing this quite often nowadays, trying to pronounce the letters and numbers which he sees when he’s outside. Just slightly earlier, he had also tried to pronounce the numbers he saw at the departure hall where each row was labelled with a big number.
We then went up to the 4th floor, where the viewing gallery was. To our disappointment, it wasn’t anything great, as the view to the runway was obscured by the windows. Furthermore, the windows were quite a distance from us. unlike in Terminal 2, so there was nothing much to see actually.
We didn’t stay very long at the airport as we wanted to head for our next destination — the River Hong Bao ( 春到河畔) celebration at the Marina Bay!

Haha Darius can indeed run very fast nowadays, forcing my old bones to keep up with him. Good fitness training! ^^
