On Christmas Day afternoon, we proceeded to my parent’s, Darius’ WaiGong and WaiPo’s place for the Christmas Lunch, a tradition in my family. Darius’ paternal family members are non-Christians, hence they do not celebrate Christmas Day.
As usual, my mum was busy cooking the lunch and lunch was going to be late at around 2 plus. We went early at half past twelve so I could help her out. This year, she decided to order some pizza and cook lesser. But still we had black pepper crab, braised duck, fried rice and fried chicken wings. It was a meal for 8 people (my parents, my Sister and her boyfriend, my SIL and my nephew and us), Darius not included.

Before that, Darius and me took a photo together. It was hard to get him to stop moving and look at the camera. So I found this picture quite funny as he stepped on my leg and said, “Or”. It is a magic word for him that works like “say cheese!”.

Subsequently, he just played with his Grandpa and cousin, running here and there. We fed him lunch on a stool and it was quite difficult getting him to cooperate to stay sitting. After a while, Darius started growing cranky. It was past 2pm, and he hadn’t taken any nap in the morning. So I tried to put him down on a mattress in a corner of the living room to sleep but he just refused and started crying when we were beginning our lunch.
My mum took over then since she did not have much appetite after the cooking frenzy. She coaxed him and fed him some pizza and gave him some orange soft drink. It was the first time he tasted the fizzy drink and he did not like it, rejecting after two sips. When she put him down, I started noticing that he still hadn’t attempt to climb the stairs after so long. We always had to block it once we stepped into the house but he only went near it before running off.
On a second look, we noted that it was because of a frilly mat that my mum had placed in front of the stairs. It was something new and Darius was afraid of stepping onto it. He would go near, take a look and run off. We all laughed at his actions. For hubby and me, we were enjoying this blissful moment of not having to run after him and stand behind him on the stairs while he climbed up and down. Then, my mum broke the ‘magical barrier’. She placed her feet on it and showed him that it’s okay to step on it. *roll eyes* So he immediately followed and swiftly moved up the stairs on his hands and feet. Thus, WaiPo had to follow him up and down the stairs then and didn’t join us for the lunch.
Later, he was really getting very tired and thus, I decided to put him down to nap again. I tried the stroller first but he kept protesting. Then, I tried the mattress on the floor again and finally, he calmed down and drifted off to sleep. He was really tired.
After lunch, we just lounged around and waited for him to wake up because all the rest of the presents were for him. My nephew had already got his presents from my parents and Sis a few days before as they brought him to the departmental store to choose the presents. So he only had to open one present from us and were playing it with Hubby, a science kit which teaches children about energy and another about magnetism. They were a bit advanced for him at 6 years old but maybe it would be educational for him later.
It was getting late and near to evening so Hubby went to sit beside Darius and it woke him up. He was very cranky upon being woken from sleep and was still very blurred. We placed him behind the presents to take a picture then.

"Wasn't I sleeping? Where am I? What's this? Why is everyone looking at me?"
He was still very cranky when we tried taking more photos so we made him milk to drink while we unwrapped the presents for him.

His cousin helped him to fix the Dalmatian set that my Sis bought. He kept taking the dogs off the rack while they were ‘climbing’ up the stairs. He did attempt to put them back on track but could not place them correctly. In the end, his cousin played with it more.

Trying to grab the dogs and examining them...
My mum’s friend got this little dancing Christmas tree from a shopping centre and she gave this to Darius who was fascinated with the tree. It was very cute, twisting its body very sexily.

His Grandpa gave him a Thomas and Friends rail set but they didn’t know it was an extension set with no train in it. So now, we probably have to buy him a train and the full set. We hadn’t planned to get it at all because we felt Darius wouldn’t know how to appreciate it now. Also felt it was too commercialised. I hadn’t let him watch cartoons so he did not even know what Thomas and Friends was. Coincidentally, his Aunt gave him a Duplo Lego Thomas and Friend train but it was really more for building and was much bigger.
We didn’t open the package since we thought we were going to go off and he does not yet know how to build tracks nor blocks so it would be a mess to tidy up. I finally persuaded them to take a family photo like last year and with the help of the new cam and a mini tripod, we managed to get a fairly nice shot. Too bad, my brother is in USA working for two years and couldn’t join us for this year’s celebration too.
We ended quite late close to 6pm and decided to head for home instead since going somewhere far seemed to be too tiring. To trade off, we decided to walk all the way from our parent’s house to our house which took around 30mins.
All in all, it was a nice cosy family celebration with the addition of Darius who is more mobile now compared to last year’s Celebration when he was still sitting in the Bumbo.

Last Year Darius was still sitting in Bumbo looking at his Christmas Presents

Darius' presents from relatives. The two books were from Hubby's boss. Nope, we did not specially give him any Christmas Presents since he had been getting lots of stuff all year round.
