Darius just had his most bloodied fall this morning.
I had just filled up his Magmag bottle with orange juice and he was following me to the sofa area for his drink. Just when everything appeared to be as per normal, he suddenly tripped and fell flat on his face.
He cried after the fall but as we thought it was just any of his other falls, Catherine carried Darius from me because he couldn’t stop crying and tried to pacify him.
All of a sudden, I heard Catherine’s exclaimation and turning back to look at Darius mouth, we saw blood flowing out of it! Even though I used my fingers to wipe off some of them, more just kept flowing out!
This had taken us totally off-guard and the first things that came into my mind was: “Is the blood caused by some broken teeth or he just got a cut in the lips?” Of course I would hope it’s the latter. With the blood oozing, we couldn’t see clearly whether his teeth was still intact or whether he had hurt his gums.
As we panicked to stop his bleeding, we used some tissue papers to try wiping off the blood in his mouth. He was still crying badly then; it must had hurt painfully.
Finally, with most of the blood wiped off and bleeding subsiding, Catherine could see a cut on his upper lip, most likely caused by one of his lower teeth when he fell. We heaved a sigh of relief when we realised that none of his teeth was damaged, neither was his chin nor face.
We realised he must had been too tired and sleepy at that time (he woke up much earlier than usual) and couldn’t walk probably nor react in time to his fall to minimise the impact (usually he will ‘break fall’ using his hands or roll to the side when falling) in that tired state.
After Darius woke up from his nap, we are glad he has been acting fine, except for his cut and swollen lip. I’m sure he will recover from it very soon though.
With this incident, we are reminded the hard way that accidents can really happen at any time and place when we least expect it.

There's a slightly open skin cut on his upper lip and a red bruise on his lower lip.

Binbin had the same kind of fall last month. So this post stab right through my heart.
Binbin’s lip was so badly split open that he had problem eating and drinking for days….
Hope little Darius will recover real soon….
*huge huge hugs*
many thanks for the hugs, Angeline! Oh dear, it happened to Binbin too? I need to find back your post to read. I missed it. Luckily, Darius could still eat his porridge after that.
I was so shocked that I cried after stopping the blood flow with tissue. It was just a small cut and Everything was over already then I started crying. I don’t cry easily but it just got to me. The sight of his mouth full of blood that kept flowing and flowing was scary. I never thought I’ll get so emotional at seeing him with blood. Guess Mothers can’t stand anything happening to their precious.
