With only a week to go before our Langkawi trip (see Our Next Destination – Langkawi!), Catherine and I were still concerned about Darius’ feeding arrangements. Unlike our trip to Genting Highlands (see Our Genting Trip – Day 1, Part 2 (13th Sep 09)) where we brought along a slow cooker to prepare his porridge, it would be inconvenient to bring it along this time since we are not going to be taking our own transport there.
So yesterday, we decided to let Darius try eating some non home-cooked food. We walked around Marina Square and decided to lunch at the Xin Wang Hong Kong restaurant (新旺香港茶餐厅) there. To be frank, this was our first visit to this restaurant so we deliberated for a while before deciding what were the dishes that would be more appropriate for his consumption. In the end, we ordered a French Toast, Glutinous Rice in Lotus Leaf, Pork Floss Congee and some dumplings.
As for the drinks, we ordered iced Soy Milk for Darius and let him sip from the cup with a straw. He seemed to enjoy the new taste and couldn’t help but wanting more. ^^
We waited for quite a while before the congee finally arrived (even the drinks came only like ten to fifteen minutes after ordering). I took a small bowl from them and Catherine transferred some of the congee into the bowl to cool it down. Darius would complain if we gave him something too hot so we had to make sure the temperature of the congee was comfortable for his tender lips.
He was a little cautious initially on the first few mouthfuls (it was a bit salty but guess we just had to close one eye) but then he started to like the taste and constantly looking over Catherine to check out if the next spoonful of congee was coming his way. ^^
We also let him try out some glutinous rice and he ate them without problem. We were glad that he was able to comfortably consume rice as we might not be able to easily come across stalls selling porridge during our trip.
As for the french toast, he didn’t like it and we could understand why. It was too sweet, so sweet that even Catherine and I gave up finishing the rest due to its strong taste.
Meanwhile, two office ladies were playing with Darius from the other side of the glass wall. Darius was in a very good mood and kept laughing heartily, keeping the ladies entertained too. Looks like Darius is becoming a lady-killer. ^^
With a mini tripod we brought along with the camera, we managed to take a family portrait in the restaurant.
I’m glad our Lumix GF1 is light and small-sized, such that even when bringing our extra lens and mini tripod, everything is still very manageable and convenient with the pouch that came with the camera.
While in the restaurant, we noticed a large grasshopper on the other side of the glass wall. It was the perfect opportunity for me to learn taking some insect photos but unfortunately it did not turn out too well due to the strong backlight.
After our lunch at the restaurant, we proceed to take a walk inside the Marina Square shopping mall and took the opportunity to take more photos of him:

so I guess, worrying about the little one’s feeding is uncalled for eh? *wink*
At least he is willing to try….
Some toddlers simply turned their heads when something new is extended to them…
so happy holidays you three!
Thanks for the well-wishes! We sure hope the trip will go smoothly too~ ^^
Still haven’t really started packing the stuff for the trip though; with a toddler on the trip, a lot more preparations have to be made early.
Darius is so cute! He’s looking more & more like a little boy now; not so much like a toddler.
Love the photos. They turned out really nice! May I know how much you got the Lumix for?
Thanks for the compliments! Yes Darius has grown to look like a little boy now. ^^
We bought the GF1 body + 20mm lens @ S$1349. The additional 14-45mm lens cost another additional S$200.
Nice photos…hope to see more!
Thanks Jer!
Sure more photos will be up! ^^

Hi Margarat,
Hee thanks for the compliments! Yes it’s a very nice camera and we have not regretted buying it. ^^
It’s so hot now that the camera is becoming ‘out of stock’ globally. Think may still be able to get it in Singapore but maybe need to pre-order first.
