Darius fell down several times over the past two days and we couldn’t help but feel concerned about his sudden imbalance as even when he was learning to walk, he had hardly fell so often.
Just on Sunday, he had a bad fall while we were strolling at Yishun Town Park. He was happily walking briskly up a concrete pathway when he suddenly tripped forward and landed flat onto his forehead. Usually, he would instinctively buffer the fall by moving his arms forward but this time round, he was unable to react in time.
As a result, he had quite a bad bruise over his forehead, caused by the abrasion against the rather rough surface.
Being a brave boy though, he only sobbed a little before returning to his cheerful mood and couldn’t wait to walk again. He probably didn’t want to appear too upset or hurt in case Catherine and I decided to stop him from continuing with his favourite activity – walking. ^^
We bought a medication cream Zam-Buk from a nearby medical shop and applied it gently over his bruise. We have been wanting to get this cream for Darius so this incident became a ‘timely’ one.
Following on, he experienced a few more falls, both last night and this morning while walking (both indoors and outdoors, either barefooted or wearing shoes). I was wondering his sudden, frequent falls was because he is now learning to walk without adopting his usual ‘surrender’ pose, which may result in his temporary imbalance.
Except for the bruise incident, the other falls were not that serious and as parents, we try as much as possible to let him get back on his feet himself so that he would learn to be less dependent on others, just like the chinese saying goes: ‘自己跌倒自己爬’.

Maybe its not a good thing to say this, but the more he falls, the faster he’ll be walking confidently, running speedily and dashing zoomingly….
*laugh*
Haha he’s already super daring and always running around without waiting for us, wanting us to catch up with him. ^^
