Back in Green...

I am currently halfway through a 2-week Army reservist training but fortunately, the impact on our daily routine with Darius has been pretty unaffected till now as I’m able to return home each night (though on some nights I have to rush back camp by 11pm). However, that would change for this coming week as I will be going for a field training exercise from Tuesday to Thursday, which means I won’t be home at all on those days.

Though it will be harder on Catherine to take care of Darius all by herself during this period (not to say I did a lot of chores on other days :p), it’s good that she now has a companion with her while I’m not around. I still remember during my last in-camp training (ICT), she was all alone in the house for several days and nights, and that could get somewhat lonely and scary.

About my training in the camp so far, I had my Individual Physical Proficiency Test (IPPT) yesterday morning. As I have not been training at all since my last test a month ago, I wasn’t confident I was going to pass this one too. Surprisingly though, I managed to pass it without too much difficulty.

Take chin-ups for example, I didn’t expect to be able to do six of them since I haven’t been doing any chin-ups for quite a while. The only ‘training’ I could think of was to carry a 10-kg ‘dumbbell’ everday, and that ‘dumbbell’ is none other than Darius. ^^|

Also for my least confident station, the 2.4km run, I also managed to pass it without having too much trouble. I used to face a lot of difficulty passing this but this time round, I still managed to complete the entire distance within the required time despite running at a relaxing pace for the first two-thirds of the route. For this, I attributed to the training given by Darius, where I had to chase after him every now and then as he wanders off in shopping malls, our neighbourhood etc. :p

So it looks like parenting has paid off in terms of a healthier lifestyle, yay? ^^|

Looking ahead, I’m sure this week will pass by very quickly too, and very soon we will return to our usual routine and getting to see Catherine and Darius everyday again! ^^
