Darius Said ‘Apple’

Darius took a playing block to me while I was sitting at the red chair on Wednesday night.

I took it casually and pointed to a picture of an Apple on it, saying “A is for Apple”.

He immediately repeated after me, “Ah…pa”.

I was shocked for a moment, dumbstruck as I stared at Hubby who nodded and said, yes, he heard it too.

So I quickly said again, “A..pple”. He repeated “Aye…ba”.. not getting the b and p correct but he was indeed trying to pronounce “Apple”! This was his first two-syllabus word. He had only been saying, “hug hug”, and “ball”.

He continued to do it three four times (see video below), sometimes just saying “per…per” with his mouth puffed & opening and closing. so cute.

It did sounded like he was just calling his papa but since I was telling him to repeat “Apple” after me, we were sure that was what he was trying to say. :)

Now it seemed to be his favourite word. I hear it when he walks about the house and mumbles to himself. Whether he knows what it refers to, I think maybe not yet. He just like to repeat my speech. Maybe I should take out an apple and show it to him more intensively… hmm.
