This is what we have done for 13 months – Lesson 2 Wk 2
Date: 07 Sep – 12 Sep

  • Literature - English : The Alphabet Book by P.D. Eastman
  • Bible – “The Floating Zoo (Noah’s Ark)” from ‘The Rhyme Bible Book for Toddler’.
  • Poetry- “Solitude” from Now We Are Six by A. A. Milne
  • Mother Tongue -Story ‘飞上天空的绵羊’ (dolphin media books)
  • Art Appreciation – Artwork of Jan Brett in The Hat
  • Other Learning - WinkToLearn Flashcard DVD in Chinese, Audiobooks of Fairytales, Other Storybooks read randomly during mealtimes or before bedtime.

This week I was busy with my projects and couldn’t do much of other subjects. But I’m glad that with this ‘lesson plan’, at least I remembered to sit down and read the books for the week with Darius so there’s still some bonding and learning. Couldn’t do ‘Nature Study’ because we have to venture out to a farm or park and I do not have time on hand. At least, he is still doing his daily walks around the neighbourhood so it’s still not too bad. Musical exploration is difficult to do for this week as I do not have that kind of music on hand.

More Details Below:

Book Read for the Week:The Alphabet Book‘ by P.D.Eastman

Word I picked out from the story and learnt for this Week (my own initiative): Learning the look of A, B, C. I wrote it on the whiteboard and point out the letters on the covers. When I read A from the book, I told him to look at the white board to see ‘A’. Then B and C so on. Only chose three letters for now for simple learning. I asked him to repeat ‘A’ after me but he didn’t. The next day, when I read the book again, he actually turned immediately to look at the whiteboard when A is read. When I read B, he turned again. Doing it for C too but no more when I continue reading D, E, so forth. Does he really understand that the word in the book and the words on the board are the same? I’m amazed.

Poetry: “Solitude”
From Book: Now We Are Six By A.A.Milne
I have a house where I go
When there’s too many people,
I have a house where I go
Where no one can be;
I have a house where I go,
Where nobody ever says “No”;
Where no one says anything —- so
There is no one but me.

Art Appreciation

Trying to look at the realistic artwork in Jan Brett’s The Hat. But nope, Darius still does not like her art or get what I’m trying to do with him. >.<
