A fortnight ago, we started teaching Darius how to climb up steps/stairs using the ‘crawling method’ (see Climbing Higher) as we felt he wasn’t ready to walk up the stairs independently.
Then forwarding to a few days ago, Catherine decided to start off the ‘standing method’ on Darius. She began by guiding his hands to hold onto the railings at the sides of the stairs (using an outdoor stairway in our neighbourhood) so that he could garner sufficient support to bring himself up onto the next step.
Yesterday evening, while I was bringing Darius downstairs for a stroll, he started heading towards the stairs while we were in the vicinity. Before I knew it, he started to grab onto the railings and walk up the steps, all without help!
He got rather sweaty after that so he must have used quite an amount of effort to accomplish the task. Catherine was surprised too when I informed her of Darius’ proactiveness in attempting his new feat.
Well done Darius! ^^

Thanks Keith! I’m happy as long as Darius is happy too. ^^
