hmm.. so far, he hasn't outgrown them. He still takes them out to flip through occasionally and request us to read it. Even though the Sandra Boynton's series seemed babyish but it's still interesting to him even now that he's almost 2 years old. As long as he doesn't know how to 'read' the words, he can still read those books til one day, he knows how to read them.
I only have three or four very babyish books (those with only one word to one picture type) but surprisingly, he LIKES them now and would look at each word very intensely to learn them by sight. So I just leave it on the bookshelf for him and hadn't given any away. For most of the simple books, I borrowed from the library.
When I buy books, I always buy in advance of his age. Like for three to four years old when he's not even two. Because I can read to him and slowly, he will read them independently himself in the future. It will last longer.

hi there, i guess this must have been a comment that is long overdue. i also read this to my 3 month old daughter and she pretty much likes it cooing everythin i read to her but end up not using as a bedtime story as most of the time she will b very excited and unable to sleep after that. was just wondering what you do to those baby books that your son outgrows.
