Drinking Milk from the Straw

Since a month back, we started introducing Darius to drink from the straw (see Drinking from Straw). Though he had no problem drinking water from it, he didn’t seem to like drinking milk from straws though.

After we switched to Gain IQ (see Formula milk for Stage 3), we could see that Darius enjoys drinking this milk than his previous ones. He would finish the milk faster than before, and would often wave his arms excitedly when he sees us approaching him with the milk bottle. ^^

After we tried tasting the milk ourselves, Catherine and I then realised why it was so — the milk was so delicious that it tasted like the ice cream from MacDonalds! No wonder Darius loves drinking it so much! ^^

So yesterday, we decided to let Darius drink his new Gain IQ from the straw, since he shouldn’t be so resistant with the milk he enjoys drinking. We were having our lunch at MacDonalds and we used the MagMag straw top to feed him the milk.

Gladly, he was receptive of this change and started drinking his milk without fuss. He would sip a few times before stopping to rest a bit each time.

After drinking more than half of the contents though, he appeared to be getting bored. So we brought him an unused MacDonalds straw for him to fiddle about while we continued to feed him. With something to do while drinking, he finished up the remaining milk in no time. ^^

Now with him willing to drink his milk from the straw, it makes us easier to feed him while we are outside, since we no longer need to put him into a stroller or lie down on a surface for his milk feed.
