Dear Darius,
Time does fly by quickly, doesn’t it? It seems just a moment ago when we first found out that you have arrived into mummy’s tummy and now, you are already a big one-year-old boy!
I can still vividly remember the day when mummy endured hours of labour before we could finally get to see you face to face for the first time. As time dragged on during the labour, I was even fearful that something unfortunate might happen to either or both of you but thank God, everything had turned out fine in the end, though mummy had suffered much even after delivery.
Your first days were thus spent in a hospital, your ‘home’ either being the nursery room or our ward. You were so beautiful and lovable that the nurses and visitors had adored you much. Your presence had also helped us overcome the unpleasant situation we were unfortunately in.
You could finally see for yourself how your real home looked like, nine days after you were born. Hopefully you have found our home as cosy as you have imagined when you were inside mummy’s pitch-dark womb?
With your arrival, our lives have never been the same. Seeing and hearing your first smiles, laughter, blabber and dance have never failed to bring happiness to our family. The joy you brought to us easily compensated for the sacrifices we made for you.
Day by day, we watched as you grew, learning to sit independently, stood up, started cruising and began to take your first steps to walk. Every milestone that you have achieved was by your own hardwork and determination, as our role was only to provide guidance and encouragement throughout this journey.
Today is the day which you shall transform from a baby into a toddler, where bigger challenges await all of us. We still have a long road ahead and together as a family, we will be walking alongside and supporting each other along the way.
Every year when you celebrate your birthday, do not forget that it is also the day your mummy demonstrated her motherly love, the greatest love on Earth, by enduring the labour and complications thereafter so that you can safely arrive into this beautiful world.
You must also keep in mind the hardship your mummy had gone through while she carried you in her womb during those nine long months and bringing you up diligently with her love and patience every single day.
Most importantly, you must remember that daddy and mummy will always be here, loving and watching over you. We will also always be cherishing our moments together as a family.
So our dear son Darius, Happy 1st Birthday to you and may we be blessed with good health and peace to celebrate every of your birthday in the many years to come!
PS: Here’s a video and photo montage which documents our unforgettable journey with you over the past 365 days, created especially for you by us with Love.
Always Here Loving You,
Daddy & Mummy
