With less than a week till Darius’ 1st Birthday celebration, Catherine and I had finally decided on a cake for him yesterday evening.
We have ruled out ordering 3D or fondant cakes which cost hundreds of dollars due to budget constraints. In fact, with us inviting only a handful of our family members, we would prefer a smaller cake so that it will not go to waste.
So, we ordered our cake from Likyo Confectionary located at 888 Plaza, Woodlands. After browsing through the four books of catalogues on their customised birthday cakes, we finally managed to decide on a particular design we liked.
It is a 2kg cake shaped as the Number 1, decorated by flowers made of cream and a rainbow at the bottom accompanied by some (inedible) figurines of Doraemon.
As we will be using the ‘HAPPY BIRTHDAY’ candles we had bought earlier (see Candles, Photoshoot, Slideshow), it will be unnecessary for these words to be written on the cake again. Instead, only Darius’ names (Christian and Chinese names) will be written on it, just above the rainbow.
Furthermore, instead of the original chocolate flavourings for the sides of the cake, we requested to change them into diced almond since we don’t really like chocolate cakes.
With the deposit paid, I will be collecting the cake this early Sunday morning in preparation for the celebration at our house starting noon.
Meanwhile, I am still struggling with Darius’ 1st Year video montage on our new PC. Time is running out for me… -_-|
