All About Darius at 11 months old

Physically, Darius is 77cm tall & weighs 10kg.

He surprised us in the evening by being able to pull himself up from the sitting to the standing position using the sofa! Since he has been doing it the past few days only once or twice out of accident, we made him try it again and he could do it consistently many times as if he has been doing it all along.

He is very mobile now and always want to move forward from the sitting to the crawling position, kneeling for a while before giving way and ending up on his tummy. Immediately, he’ll start crying as he dislikes it.

He can stand without support and able to take a few independent steps towards us. The most steps he made by himself so far is about eight.

He can cruise steadily now from furniture to furniture and is very daring in his attempts to cross over. His hands will stretch, his fingers will inch towards, as long as there’s a teeny bit of thing he could grab hold of, it would give him the leverage to move over. He’s that determined.

Similarly, he is very focused on the item he wants at a particular moment and will attempt to go for it, ignoring all other interesting stuff in the way.

He’s very curious or ‘kaypoh’ and wants to grab everything we are holding or touch the stuff we are eating on the table.

Speech wise, he is blabbling constantly all kinds of sounds. Sometimes, we hear him saying the sounds of his chinese name, repeating right after us but pronounced incorrectly.

He has developed a fondness for going ‘aiyeeeEEE, aiIII!!’ Everytime he’s not happy, he says this very loudly, complaining. And I’m hearing it very often nowadays.

He dislike people wiping his face when previously he would smile or laugh due to the ticklish strokes.

"AAAiiiyeeeEEE!!!"

He can express his emotions very greatly now and when he dislike anything, he uses his hands to push them away strongly, getting very agitated.

For example, he would now protest that he’s done drinking by pushing away his milk bottle strongly when I attempt to feed him the remaining amount after he’s done self-feeding.

He is getting very clingy and whiny and can go like a broken record the whole day, making loud complaining noises if I leave him to self-play while I do my stuff. Our ears hurt and we are driven crazy with the noise and had no choice but to pick him up. He’s like me, very persistent in his goal. However, he can’t win me because I’m more persistent than him. ^_~

He is getting more aware of his self and rarely smile easily now when smiled to. It’s hard to get him to chuckle loudly unless it’s swinging him high up in the air or playing the walking game. Similarly, hard to get him to smile all the time when being photographed.

On the positive side, he loves bathtimes and smiles happily when sprayed with the shower head.

He loves being talked to and would stare at you and your talking mouth with large round eyes as if you are the most wonderful person in the world and anything you say is gold. When being held, he loves to touch the person’s mouth a lot. Really don’t know why he’s so fascinated with it.

He loves looking at things upside down. He will swing his head backwards or look back while lying down to see things and this will get him giggling non-stop.

He loves his own reflection and chuckles when he viewed himself in the mirror. He even kisses his own reflection if he’s placed against the mirror.

Though he’s active, he is also able to sit down quietly with me to read books, listen to audio stories, and watch learning materials on tv. As long as there’s music, voices or sounds, his attention is grabbed.

This pretty summarises what Darius is like at the start of 11months old. Only a month more to his first birthday!
