Darius has been very actively walking using structures around him. However, after he has mastered taking a few independent steps, he became very daring in moving towards his chosen target.
He would attempt to walk towards something far even if we are not behind him or turn away from us when we are holding him to venture outwards.
Nowadays I leave him cruising in the console & sofa area by himself while I prepare his food in the kitchen or wash up. He does not like the restraints of the Haenim Play Yard and would whine after a while in there.
I got a surprise yesterday when he crossed over to the red chair using the high chair. He has just mastered walking to the high chair from the console a few days ago.
Since he does not know how to turn at the handle of the red chair, I thought it was fine since he would most likely walk back when he was done with exploration. I left him then and went back to the kitchen.
Shortly after I walked out and found him at the fan!
Got a shock because the fan was whirling and he was holding only to the stand, playing with the control buttons. I was really surprised because it was a great distance from the chair to the fan. How did he manage to get there? Did he walk over a little? I was also thanking God that he had not poked his fingers into the cover of the whirling fan where his little fingers might get hurt by the blades. I know he always like to go near the fan but it was an unreachable target for him usually. Though I like to let him roam freely and explore himself without restraint, I really need to be more careful about this.
Today he has also managed to stand independently for a while before taking steps towards me. He can take a step, stand and take a step again. Previously, he would start walking the moment we put him into standing position and very unsteadily crashed into us or the structure he’s heading to. He can also cruise putting his palms against the wall or cabinets so I let him cruise beside me while in the kitchen.
He still does not know how to pull to standing position though, but just now, I found him standing up holding onto the side of the play yard after I turned away and turned back. He couldn’t do it again when I put him sitting down. Again, I do not know how he did it. He always seemed to be achieving something when I’m not looking (like the first time he flipped). o_o”
