EE I EE I O

Since we heard Darius ’singing’ the ABC Song a month ago (see Amazing Discovery about Darius!), we had been hearing him broadening his vocals by ’singing’ new tunes and songs.

Though we cannot be entirely sure, we felt the ‘noises’ he made were originally from songs because his tunes would consist of low and high pitches with a certain kind of rhythm linking them. We’ve tried to identify what songs he were performing, but could only get a vague idea at best (no thanks to his occassional ‘out of tune’ notes ^^|).

One of the songs that I suspected he was singing was ‘London Bridge is Falling Down’, as his tunes sounded pretty like it at times. However I dismissed that possibility at that moment because I couldn’t recall ourselves singing that song to him before.

It was until our next outing with him on his stroller, that we realised this tune was playing from his Pooh Bear steering wheel we had attached to his stroller (see Splash Park @ Sembawang Shopping Centre) since end of March! So he might be humming that song afterall!

Then on yesterday, Darius started babbling the ‘ee i ee i o’ sounds repeatedly. (Normally, he just goes ‘ah ah ah’ only) Noticing this, Catherine suspected that he was imitating part of the ’Old MacDonald Had a Farm’ song, which he had heard twice recently during the Growing Up Gifted classes. We had previously played DVDs containing this song to him too. He would also smile at us when he heard the ‘ee i ee i o’ part of the song when we sang it to him.

Actually I had not managed to capture a clearer video of him humming the ‘ee i ee i o’ so for now, this is the closest I’ve captured:

He really appears to enjoy music a lot, be it listening or singing them.
