The Things I Want To Do With My Family

Over the past months, we have brought Darius to quite a numer of places of interests in Singapore (see Places to Visit), such as the Zoo, Hort Park, Botanic Garden, Labrador Park, East Coast Park, Chinese Garden and Science Center.

Most turned out to be very fun and enriching trips, and looking back at the blog posts and photos from the trips brings back nice memories. Yes, perhaps Darius was too young to have remembered where he had been, but he sure had enjoyed himself then, so these trips were definitely worth it. ^^

Great family times together! ^^

Besides those mentioned above, there are still quite a number of places we have wished to go to with Darius, and also activities that I will like to do with Catherine and him. However, some of them are either inaccesible by public transport (e.g. Mount Faber, Henderson Bridge, just to name a few) or just not practical for us yet (e.g. watching movies, ice skating, which were our favourite pastimes before Darius was born).

Not wanting to put Darius in the care of our parents while we enjoy ourselves outside (since we will still be thinking of him and wondering how he’s doing), our focus will still be going for family-friendly places and activities for our family as a whole.

We have recently come across this site called myonlinetour.com, which features a number of interesting places in Singapore that we might have missed out. Of course, not all are appropriate for Darius’ age, but it’s good to see what are the options we have. We are especially interested in the farms and island trips.

Besides local trips, we have also been wanting to go for a short, nearby overseas trip, such as to Genting Highlands, Langkawi, Sunway Lagoon or A’Famosa in Malaysia. We have even come as close to booking the resorts and flights for the trip. However, with the looming and uncertain Influenza A situation across our neighbouring countries now, staying in Singapore appears to be a safer and more predictable option right now (we wouldn’t want to have our trip cancelled at the last minute). :(

So it’s back to the local places of interests for now.

Besides those places mentioned in the website above, there are also some interesting tour activities that would be appropriate for families like us, such as the Singapore River Cruise, Hippo River, Rhino Tour and Hippo Tour, just to name a few.

Previously, these tour activities would be more suitable for foreign tourists who are here in Singapore for the first time. However, with the National Family Celebrations kicking in this coming June holidays where they are offering promotions for some of these activities, this might be the golden opportunity to explore and discover Singapore from a different perspective, while bonding with our families! The same applies to us and I would wish to bring my family on these tours!

So start planning for your own Family Day Out on 30 May 2009 now! Check out its website at www.nfc.sg! ^^
