As mentioned at the end of the Trial Class at Tumble Tots post, I’ve made an useful tool to aid in Darius’ walking skills.

Basically, it’s a pair of bamboo sticks which you place vertically in front of the child, slightly shoulder length apart. The child will then grab hold of one pole with each hand, and with the parent/adult standing behind him, guide him along to walk using the poles as support.

In comparison to our usual method to assist Darius in walking where we hold his palms in ours and above his head, this pole method would be more difficult for him to walk since more independence and control is required from him.

However, this makes for a good progressive walking practice for him, so that he can slowly learn to be more independent and ultimately be able to walk all by himself:

Also, the efforts and costs involved in making this useful tool is very minimal: A typcial bamboo stick at S$1.80 meant for hanging out clothes (and ask the person to saw it into two equal parts for free) and a pair of rubber stoppers at $0.30 each which are typically used on the legs of chairs and tables (used here on one end of each pole for firmer support and also to prevent the scratching of the floor surface).

Meanwhile, it appears that we are making Darius a member of the Beggar Sect (like in 射雕英雄传 aka The Legend of the Condor Heroes) under the leader 洪七公:
