On Friday evening, we were at Causeway Point shopping for a pair of shoes for Darius. We were looking for those types which have soft rubber soles which could provide sufficient friction and support while he walks assisted, and yet is soft so that it will not hinder his feet’s development.
Catherine wanted to get shoes by ShooShoos as they are ideal for growing feet, comfortable and their designs are nice. However, it appears that locally, they are only available at Mothercare outlets (we also know that some online shops such as Itsy Bitsy Me are selling them, but we wished to first see and feel how these shoes ourselves).
When we entered the Mothercare outlet at Causeway Point, we saw two to three pairs of ShooShoos shoes on sale, but there were more suitable for girls and their designs weren’t exactly appealing to us (that’s why they are on sale?). When I asked over the counter for other available designs, they said they were out of stock and would not be replenishing them in the near future. They would replace them with their house-brand shoes instead. -_-
We thought we would have better luck at other bigger Mothercare outlets, since this outlet is one of the smallest around. We then left the shop.
When we reached the restroom area for a break, Catherine took a look at Darius and gave out an exclamation. I was momentarily stunned by her reaction and wondered what had happened to him (fallen asleep, vomitted milk etc?).
She then took out a bundle of Mothercare socks from Darius’ arms and showed them to me. Oh no! He had secretly taken them from the shop without us noticing! o_0|
I quickly returned the socks back to the store, explaining to them ’sorry, my child took this’. They did not pursue the matter. Instead, they felt that the incident was funny and couldn’t stop laughing while I apologised again for Darius’ deed. ^^|
After I returned to Catherine, both of us felt the whole thing was funny and laughed over it too. On a serious note though, we will need to watch out more on Darius’ swift hands so that similar incidents wouldn’t happen again. We might not be so lucky next time and could land ourselves in trouble (e.g. ‘beep beep beep’ upon leaving the store).
Back to our shoes shopping, we were quite surprised to have found some nice and suitable ones at Kiddy Palace and decided to get a pair that both of us liked pretty much (and at half the price of a pair of ShooShoos shoes
) . Will be letting Darius ‘run’ around in them over this weekend. ^^

I’ve been to the Mothercare outlet at CP; the aisles are reallly narrow, so it’s easy to for a kid on a stroller to just grab something off the shelves. Hee, Darius looks so innocent in that photo after getting “caught”, with the what-did-I-do? expression. ^^
Hahaha I couldn’t stop laughing too when I saw the photos of Darius with a pair of socks.
Hi Mama Peanut, Brownie,
Haha indeed, poor Darius did had that innocent look then! Now that you mention it, it’s really funny looking at that photo again~ ^^
The aisles at that shop is really narrow; always bumping into something with the stroller. At least for CWP, Kiddy Palace and Metro would be better choices.
