The Splash Park at Sembawang Shopping Centre had been officially opened for about a month already, but last Sunday was the first time we’ve set foot in there. We’ve actually visited the shopping centre since last December, but many shops and amenities (including this Splash Park) were not opened then.
When we reached the place on Sunday, it was close to 2pm and many children were having fun in the park with the company of their parents, some at the wet area and others at the dry area.
The Splash Park is divided between these two areas to cater to the different needs of the children and parents, and I thought this was good planning by the management to offer the variety. This park was situated on the 3rd floor of the shopping centre by the way.
Before we could get to explore the wet area where gushes of water were spraying and pouring upon the children, the water source was suddenly all cut off, leaving the children disappointed.
We thought it was a temporary cut but soon realised the waters wouldn’t be returning after reading a notice on a nearby wall, which mentioned that the ‘water hours’ were from 11am to 2pm and 5pm to 8pm daily. We were glad to have taken note of these timings though as it will help us plan for Darius’ wet trip for the next time.
So with the wet area drying up, we decided to get a closer look at the area, and taking some photos along the way.
Since the wet area had been closed till 5pm, most of the children were enjoying themselves at the dry area instead, equipped with slides and other fun stuff.
As we walked further down, we came across a fitness corner meant for people aged 15 and above, according to its signages. Some of the equipment there resembled those found in our neighbourhood’s fitness corner for the elderly. Still, it was a good call by the mall’s management to have one area to keep waiting parents occupied while their children enjoyed themselves. Whether the parents are willing to lift their butts to exercise is another issue though… ^^|
There was also a small bathing area for the children within the wet area, so we parents can bring our wet kids for a quick bath there before returrning to the air-conditioned shopping centre. How thoughtful!
As for Darius, since there’s no water for him to play (we didn’t bring his wet suit anyway), he could only remain in his new stroller and watch the children around him enjoying themselves.
I’ve recently bought a Pooh Bear steering wheel and mounted it onto the front horizontal bar of the stroller to keep him entertained while he’s it in. I’ve always wanted to attach something like this onto Darius’ stroller but our previous stroller’s structure did not allow for it.
By the way, have you noticed that the photos look larger now? We’ve decided to increase the size of our photos from now on for better viewing! ^^

There is a similar park at IMM.
Oh we heard and went there around a year back but didn’t know there was a water park there. We only saw a dry playground and a stage. So they have opening hours for the ‘wet area’ too?
Not sure. Will help u check out next time I am there. They renovated the place and there is a dry playground together with the wet area. It is at the second floor / third floor.
Okay thanks, will check it out if we happen to visit the mall. ^^
Providing wet hours is wonderful, I would certainly prefer, as it is difficult to arrange enough water play at home.
Hi Damla,
Welcome to our blog! ^^
We used to have an inflatable tub at home for Darius to soak into, but think he has already outgrown it… Having water play outdoors is certainly more fun but more hassles are involved at the same time.
Wow, looks like fun!
