According to Catherine, Darius’ fever started mid-afternoon yesterday, and was thus a bit cranky throughout the day. We decided to hold back on his fever medication to see if his own immune system could help him recover.
Meanwhile, we were considering the possibile causes of his fever, and his recent visit to the hospital (see Darius in the Out of Bounds Zone) is one of them. Whatever the reason, our priority would be to help him recover as soon as possible.
However by nightfall, his fever had not subsided, so we fed him the fever medication from his last doctor visit. He felt better after taking the medicine. In fact, he immediately fell asleep in Catherine’s arms.
To further helping to get his temperature down, we bought a pack of disposable cooling pads and applied it onto his forehead. It stuck nicely onto his skin and that should help cooled him down further.
We had a Cadi ear/forehead thermometer bought from the Babycare Festival 2008 when Catherine was still pregnant, but recently it seemed to have malfunctioned, giving weird temperature readings most of the times. We are now seeing if the thermometer is still under warranty and if we can still get it repaired.
Throughout the night, he woke up several times and we had to attend to him to get him back to sleep. At around 1am, his body started to feel warm again, and so we fed him a new dose of the fever medication, together with the application of a new cooling pad.
He appeared to be much better this morning (I took urgent leave to help take care of him), though his forehead still feels feverish. I had just applied another cooling pad and he had just gotten back to sleep in his cot.
Hopefully he will recover soon and resume his jovial self again!

Awww poor boy. Hope he gets well soon!
Thanks for the well-wishes, everyone!
Fever always starts up at night and it happened for Darius today again at evening time. So I used the towel to put on his forehead to cool him down and gave him medicine again because he was crying too much.
When he slept and woke up after 2 hrs, he was all sweaty and not hot anymore. But he kept waking up when he slept without aircon cos he’s too hot & sweaty, so no choice, have to on the air-con for him.
Hopefully, he will be well tomorrow!!! Getting sleep deprived with him waking up constantly throughout the night to pee, complain pacifier drop-out, just generally cry for no reason, flipping and unable to sleep. ….Nightmare!

Darius’ temperature has gotten down a bit this morning when I left for work. Hope he’s keeping it that way. Read that cases of Dengue Fever have gone up lately but hope he’s not suffering from that…
Catherine has been waking up several times in the night due to his frequent waking up and wailing. This morning around 5.30am realises he has diahorrea when she brought her to the toilet for peeing.
I was also falling sick and was too tired to help much…
If really still very serious, pls bring him to see doctor. The virus in the hospital is really contagious.
Yvette from fever lead to breathing difficulty. In the end she was down with mild bronchiolitis. And got admitted into TMC for 3 days.
Just share with you, what i know from the doctor and my experience. Normally fever start in day time it’s a mild fever 37.5 degree only but when at night time they fever will sure go up at least 38 to 39.5 degree. So, once you know he have fever try to feed him fever medicine every 4hrs and at nite and midnite also must feed the fever medicine. It’s normal they it’s sweating because the medicine is working.
It’s happy to know that Dairus is recover now. Yes, agreed with you when they fever or sick we are super busy, tired and worries.
Thanks for sharing. Yar we are glad Darius has recovered. In fact, he’s more jovial than before. ^^
