New Method in Bathing Darius

Since a week or two back, Catherine started bathing Darius using a different method.

Starting when Darius was still a newborn, we would fill the bathtub with warm water before placing him into it and supporting his body with our left hands by his back, while we used our right hands to apply baby shower foam and shampoo onto him and wiped them off with wet towels.

Seeing that Darius could already sit up independently and steadily, Catherine started placing him sitting in the bathtub, before showering him with water straight from the shower head.

"I'm not going to look up..."

He had always disliked water getting into his eyes so we would make it a point to place our right hands above his eyes while showering water over his head. This was also to prevent shampoo washed down from his scalp from getting into his eyes.

Nowadays he had gotten used to this new method of bathing him, and no longer complains about it unlike the initial stage. Similar to his behaviour while eating solids, he would stay very quiet throughout the whole process, and would only start blabbering and moving about after his ‘ordeals’. Besides lowering his head, he would also extend his arms out in a ‘surrender’ pose to maintain his balance during his baths.

He doesn’t complain as much now when water does get into his eyes, and hopefully this will allow him to enjoy himself more at swimming pools and splash parks where water can be splashing onto him from different directions and angles.
