Today, Darius has his first taste of organic Japanese pumpkin.

"New food again?! NOoooo!!!"
As usual, he turned away on the first mouthful which got me poking the pumpkin into his nostrils and smearing his cheeks.
I had to keep wiping his nose because most of the time, the food goes there instead of his mouth due to him being smarter now and knowing to turn away or bend down the moment my spoon goes to him.

"If I bend down, I might escape that yucky thing..."
It doesn’t help that I’m using my jiggly right hand to feed him though I’m a left hander because the bowl holder on the highchair is on the left side.

"Can I don't eat it anymore?"
And the story goes that he started looking at me imploringly when he knew he cannot escape my evil spoon, begging me to stop feeding him while I just kept smiling, singing or saying, “Ahhh…Darius…Ahhhhh”, pressing my spoon into his tightly closed mouth…..and trying to s.t.a.y…c..o..o..l.
Finally, he began to like it after a few mouthfuls and ate up promptly the Brown rice cooked with sakura chicken bits, plus pumpkin. All through with a sour face.
I’m also letting him try out the ‘Healthy Times Organic Brown Rice cereal‘ for the afternoon. (the one I bought from Brown Rice Paradise store on Sunday and can be found in certain cold storage)

So far, he has been eating it well with his milk mixed into it plus a food cube of papaya. He likes the cereal because it has his milk taste but doesn’t like it much when papaya is mixed into it., so I’m careful not to mix too much. Mixing saves more time, don’t have to specially pick out papaya to feed, then cereal to feed.
The cereal is flakey and looks really different from those nestle or heinz brand. Once mixed with milk, it has a creamy texture like ice-cream, very easy for baby to eat. I wondered though how much grains are really in every tablespoons of the cereals because what I cooked for Darius, I can still see the grains but with this commercial cereal, it’s totally dissolved.
I also noticed that he gets hungry faster and wants to eat the next meal early when he hadn’t before even though I fed him three tablespoons. (Today, gave him four and he took sometime to finish).
Nevertheless, my point of introducing commercial cereal is because sometimes, I might not have time to cook due to an outing day or we need to feed Darius outside but don’t want to bring along the cooked porridge for the whole day in case of spoilage (even if in a container). We can just bring the dry powdered cereal and mixed it with his milk. It can also be used as a base to introduce new fruits to Darius.
