This month seemed to pass very fast. Darius is still a very emotional boy. He is mostly joyful and gives us a lot of smiles but when he’s angry or not happy with something, he’ll cry very loudly too, arched his back or tear my skin. My vulnerable neck & hands are often the subjects of his angry pinching or poking fingernails.
He’s sitting in a high chair and eating solids now and I’m introducing new foods to him where he’ll eat with a funny yucky expression. We have power struggles during mealtimes but he’ll eat most of it.
His favourite activity is stepping where we would hold him underneath the arms and take him on walks around the house with him stepping by himself, left right, left right. We joke that he’s like ‘gozilla’, as he says ‘hmm hmm’ or make noises with each stomping of his feet and waddles unsteadily.
Our 2 months of Elimination Communication is progressing great and he’s in shorts during the day with very little misses and one-size cloth diapers at night. He can also finally poop with me cueing him on the potty. We will try to progress to using EC when out too if we can.

Physical Development at the start of 7 months old:
- He can now flip from back to tummy and tummy to back.
- He can move backwards on his tummy by pushing his hands.
- He can sit independently by himself now and rarely topples over.
- He is able to stand and hold onto something for longer period.
- His stepping and standing is better. I can hold him minimally and he’ll support himself.

- He likes to bounce when he stands or steps.
- He is starting to bend forward (sign of lunging) while seated to grab at something.
- He is beginning to understand object permanence. He can be left playing alone and knows that I’m busy somewhere else.
Vocal Development at the start of 7 months old:
- He likes to go ‘ahhh…aaaahhh…’ clenching his throat to the point of coughing. Maybe he is trying to say something?
- He was saying ‘bababa..bwabwa’ for a while. He lets slip occasionally, a ‘ma’ when he’s crying out for help with flipping. He always smiles when I say ‘mama’ to him.
- He laughs heartily when we laughs.
- He often goes ‘hmm hmmm’ pressing his lips together.
- He doesn’t say anything during potty times now but cries to signal.
Social Development at the start of 7 months old:
- He enjoys watching other children doing their activities and tried imitating his cousin in jumping by doing his own bouncing.
- He likes to observe people and stares at them til they smile back at him and he responds with a smile.

Towards Independence:
- He drinks water from level 2 sprout of Magmag and the cup of the Pigeon feeding set.
- He can hold his milk bottle but would rather we hold it for him to drink as he ends up playing with it.
- He can poo on the potty now with cue and is diaperless during the day at home.
- He is able to sleep without a pacifier now during the daytime naps and sometimes needing it at night.
Physical Development:
- He now weighs 8.47 kg (75 percentile) and measures around 70cm in height.
