After we learnt that Darius was able to sit unassisted for extended periods of time (see Darius Learns to Sit Independently), I have the thought of putting him on a baby chair the next time we are out dining.

The opportunity came soon when we went to a Japanese restaurant for dinner yesterday. I requested for a baby chair from a supervisor there, but instead of promptly bringing us the chair, she peeked into the stroller not just once but twice, hesitated quite a while before finally bringing us the chair. Was she worried our child was too young to sit on the chair, or did she not trust us in being responsible parents? -_-|

Anyway, the baby chair came and we transferred Darius from his stroller onto it. Immediately his eyes brightened up and he sat on it at ease, looking around from his new location. He sure looked happier and awake out here than being cooped up in the stroller.

Well behaved on the baby chair

Though we knew he could sit independently for some time, we were surprised he did not appear unstable or complain much throughout our entire meal. We were glad we took the first step to initiate him into a baby chair, and we will certainly ask for one during our subsequent meals outside.

Following this episode, we proceeded to buy a high chair for Darius at Kiddy Palace. We had been wanting to get one for weeks but had not found any suitable ones. We were glad new stocks had finally arrived (we knew they just arrived as we’ve been checking the place regularly :p) and bought the Lucky Baby Fiesta High Chair, pastel green in colour.

So this morning, after unpacking the high chair from the packaging, I placed Darius onto the chair and I was relieved he did not complain or tried to get off the chair. Hopefully he will continue to stay still peacefully while we feed him solids on it too. ^^
