It has been more than a fortnight since we first rented the Fisher Price Rainforest Jumperoo for Darius (see Jumperoo for Darius).
All this while, although he was no longer fussy when being placed in it, he wasn’t actively moving about and was spending most of his time examining the toys on it instead.
It appeared that he was afraid of falling off the jumperoo, which explained why one of his hands was always holding on to something he felt secured. This also happens when he’s on the stroller or when taking a cab ride sitting on Catherine’s lap; he will always make sure his hands are held on tightly to something within his reach.
So tonight, we were expecting the same thing after placing him into the jumperoo. After playing with the spinning gadgets on the jumperoo, I decided to help him with the jumping by grabbing hold of his legs softly and do a little up-and-down movements on him. We had previously done the same exercise with him but he would still continue to remain stationary after that.
However this time round, his legs suddenly started kicking around, causing the music and sound on the jumperoo to be activated, and all of a sudden he started to enjoy the commotion he was causing. He then sprung to life and started kicking and bouncing around excitedly, grinning gladly while we cheered him on:
We were of course glad that he had finally learnt to appreciate the joy and purpose of the jumperoo, and hope he will continue to enjoy his jumping motions the next time we place him into it again.
For now, we must remember not to let him get too excited just before his bedtime; Catherine just had a hard time putting him to sleep. ^^|

I wondered if you would post video of Darius jumping too. So it was funny when I saw Darius in Jumperoo, as if you can hear my thought haha.
Haha maybe your thoughts travelled to Darius, that’s why he suddenly discovered what he should do to enjoy the jumperoo. ^^
Catherine was still commenting why Darius was unlike the other children who will instinctively jump excitedly when placed in the jumperoo, and soon after he suddenly sprung to life in it~~
Oh my.. he looked so excited! So cute! Nicholas is moving sideways and starting to move towards the front yesterday when he is in the walker.
Thanks Meizhen.
Glad to hear Nicholas is exploring his surroundings on the walker too. Too bad I have not had a chance to see or play with him yet… ^^|
Dun worry there is sure alot of chances.
Will bring him one day to visit Darius as well.
Okay will be looking forward to meeting you and family! ^^
