We have been taking short video clips of Darius now and then, just that we have not been uploading and placing them on our blog.
Today, we’ve decided to place some of them here, showing some of the things Darius has been doing lately.
We will occassionally put Darius into the walker as he has always liked to be in a standing or semi-standing position. Unlike lying or sitting him down on the mat, he doesn’t complain as much when he’s in the walker or exersaucer.
His feet have reached the floor since several weeks back and with his right leg, which we believe is his master leg, he will push himself and the walker backwards or sideways to move around. He doesn’t seeem to know how to propel himself forward yet though.
We have also been encouraging him to walk, since he appears to enjoy walking a lot. We will either stand in front or behind him while supporting him by his armpits. As he moves his little feet forward one at a time, he will often look around and observe his surroundings. We believe it is mainly due to his curiosity with the surroundings that encourages him to take his little steps forward in the first place.
He has also started to hold the rattle on either hand, shaking it when he’s holding it. His appears to have better control with his right hand and will often move the rattle in a ‘figure-of-8′ motion. He also likes to babble a lot, often talking to unanimated objects in front of him.
Besides his activeness, he has also exhibited some of his quietier side. The following video clip shows him giving his full attention to the television as we played a children’s DVD titled ‘Favourite Sing-a-Longs’ by Baby Genius. He was so enticed by the colourful animated animals and enchanting music that he didn’t even realise we were filming him. ^^

I was so shocked to see the first video, thought he was going to knock his head on the chair behind him. Hahahahahaa the last video is too cute!!
Oh, didn’t think of watching the first video in that perspective. So far it has still been safe as the base of the walker is quite wide and the base will hit the chair first before it can even reach Darius. However, we did notice that he is starting to reach out for things outside the walker recently so we need to be more careful now to make sure that this is no choking hazard items within his reach. Time for more childproofing! ^^
It’s quite amazing how focused Darius can be at times. Hopefully this will mean he will be able to learn things faster.
