We brought Darius down for Christmas Day Mass at our Church of St. Anthony this morning. In previous years, we had attended the Mass on Christmas Eve nights but as the mass usually starts late (this year’s is 9.30pm), we decided to attend the session on Christmas Day morning instead so Darius would be awake and alert during the Mass.
Having dressed up for the Mass, we took a photo with our Christmas Tree before we set off for church:
We left home early and reached the church 45 minutes before the Mass, to make sure we can find a suitable seat. Christmas Masses are usually very crowded so we needed to make sure we were properly seated before the crowd came in, especially with Darius and his stroller in consideration this year.
Catherine then proceeded to feed him first, and let him take a nap in the stroller as we waited for the Mass to start. After our first Mass with Darius, we had decided to attend the proceedings in the church’s main hall instead of the specially set-up room for crying babies and toddlers, since we wanted to let Darius get used to the environment and thus behaving himself.
15 minutes into the procession, Darius was awakened by the music and we carried him out of the stroller. He was busy looking around his surroundings and kept himself well-behaved. When it was time to exchange the sign of peace near the end of the Mass, the lady (a mother of two kids) sitting in front of us even commented that Darius ‘had done a good job’ (in keeping quiet and not creating any hassle). ^^
It sure was a nice experience to celebrate Christmas with Darius in the church, and we look forward to many more celebrations ahead with him.
