It is a tradition for us to have our Christmas Day Lunch/Dinner and celebration at my parents-in-law’s house, so it’s no exception this year.
This year, our 5-year-old nephew Dylan will also be dropping by with my elder sister-in-law, so it’s expected to be a merrier celebration with more people around.
We have previously bought a DIY marble race set for Dylan as his Christmas present, at a shop named Toyrific in Hougang Mall, which offers interesting and reasonably priced toys. This set allows the creation of a self-designed ramp where two marbles can roll down from the top at the same time, which can act as a race of marbles between two person. Even if one is playing it alone, he can still enjoy the satisfaction of builing his own ramp and try to predict which of the two marbles will reach the finishing point first.
Upon reaching my parents-in-law’s house, there was still time before the steamboat dinner began, so we placed Darius on his Bumbo chair that we have brought, while we mingled around and waited for the others to arrive.
After dinner, Dylan couldn’t wait to open his Christmas presents, so we decided to open Darius’ on his behalf too.
My parents-in-law had bought him a mini piano and the music did catch his attention for a while, before he decided to taste the piano by bringing it towards his mouth. ^^|
Following that, we opened the present from my elder sister-in-law, which was a book titled ‘What Does Baby Do?’. Catherine had been intending to buy this book too so it was a very appropriate gift. She now has another book to add to Darius’ collection and to read to him on his daily routine.
Last but not least, Catherine’s younger sister had bought Darius a roller duckie, which would encourage Darius to creep/crawl as the duckie rolled in front of him. I had previously considered getting this for Darius so it was a very timely present.
All in all, we had an enjoyable night and this being Darius’ first Christmas celebration, he must have had a joyous and fruitful evening too. ^^

I love his expression when looking at the roller duckie. He must be wondering why there are many new toys today.
Yups, but sometimes it’s sad to think he probably won’t be able to remember his first two years of life when he grows up. That’s why we’re actively taking his photos and videos to show him what we went through together. ^^
That’s true. I don’t remember the first four years of my life =(. Once my auntie asked if I remembered that she used to tie my hair and played hide and seek, I don’t remember anything and I felt sad not remembering anything. I didn’t have a lot of photos too when I was young. I guess it was expensive to buy film and develop photos back then. Thanks to the technology, now we can snap as much as we want.
Indeed, we didn’t have many photographs to fall back on our childhood. Sometimes I will still be able to recall some vague incidents during my first few years of life, like my mother coaxing me to sleep on my cot, a big dog in my house, an old lady neighbour giving me sweets etc though.
me too. I only remember stuff from when I was about four years old and that is also with the help of photographs to recall the memory.
