"Which toy should I choose?"

It has been about a week since we first rented the Safety 1st Bouncing Baby Place exersaucer for Darius (see More New Toys for Darius!) and he has been showing encouraging progress in interacting with the toys on it, especially starting from yesterday evening onwards.

After waking up from a nap, we placed Darius on the exersaucer and he started getting very interested in the toys in front of him as he started stretching his hands outwards to experiment with them. Previously, he was spending most of his time putting his hands into his mouth or clutching them together.

Catherine had been guiding him over the past few days by demonstrating how the toys work and guiding his hands to play with the toys, and we can see that her efforts had begun to pay off.

Darius was particularly interested in the ‘Girl on the Swing’ toy, which consists of a rectangular casing with beads inside, and featuring a picture of a girl on a swing on the outside. It can be rotated 360 degrees vertically and once rotated, there will be sounds caused by the moving beads against the casing.

He would use his hands to spin the swing, and occassionally achieving multiple continuous rotations. There was once when I saw him getting overly excited whenever he touched the swing, seemingly wanting to lurch forward and jump towards the swing, with his hands outstretched towards the toy.

At times, I couldn’t help but wonder if he’s more interested in the mechanism (i.e. beads, rotating feature) or the girl herself… ^^|
