Quite a number of bloggers have blogged about their experiences at Hort Park, which made us very curious about the place and made us wanted to visit it for ourselves.
With my company’s Golden Week in place (where almost all our employees have to take a mandatory 1-week leave), we have planned to have a park trip today, starting with the Hort Park off Alexander Road.
Waking up as early as 6am, I prepared the milk powder etc while Catherine busied herself making the sandwiches for our breakfast later. We have wanted to leave home by 7am to beat the morning traffic jam.
By the time we settled everything and were prepared to leave, it was already 7.30am but the roads were not as jammed as we thought, probably because many could also have taken leave from work during this period.
After missing some exits and U-turns (no thanks to my inexperience in the area o_0|), we finally reached Hort Park nearly an hour later. Fortunately, the weather was cooling with a beautiful skyline when we reached there (guess my prayers for a good weather worked).
We were also glad that the place was wheelchair/stroller friendly so we didn’t have much of a problem navigating the area. Starting from the lobby, we moved down into the park on the concrete pavement, with Darius in the stroller. Catherine then suggested to put him on a carrier instead so he would be able to get a clearer view of the park as we walked along.
We came across some nice plants and flowers, but overall it wasn’t as fantastic as we have thought. Yes, it’s a family-friendly park for strolls/jogs but it didn’t excite us as much as we thought. Guess we were expecting more interesting things in the park. We did have a nice sandwich breakfast at one of the shelters though. ^^
After an 1-hour stroll in the park, we decided we have seen it all and left the place for our next destination — Labrador Park (see 22nd Dec 2008 Outing – Labrador Park).
