4th Month’s Activities for Darius

Darius is going to be 4 months’ old this coming Saturday, and it will be time for his second injection of the 6-in-1 vaccination. When he took his first jab while he was 2 months’ old, he did not cry, unlike what we had expected (see Our Brave Little Boy). I wonder how he will respond this time though, since he’s older and may be more aware to pain inflicted on his body. Still, we hope he will continue to be a brave boy.

Will Darius be as brave as before?

Besides the injection, we will also be going through some physical examination with the doctor, which includes certain milestone checks and vital stats such as height and weight. We have a rough idea of his height using measuring tapes at home but will only be able to find out his weight at the clinic, since our weighing machine is kind of faulty.

We will also be bringing him to a nearby neighbourhood salon to shave his hair for S$6. For us, the reason for his conversion to ‘botak’ is not due to traditions and beliefs, but for tidiness since some of his hair are starting to drop off while some are growing longer, which makes his head look a little messy.

"Hmm? I'm going to be a botak soon?"

The other reason is to avoid any future unhappiness with some of our family members, as they believe that by shaving our babies’ scalp either during his full month or when he’s 4 months’ old, it will result in faster and thicker growth of their hair. So in case Darius’ hair turns out to be thin and sparse in the future, we won’t be blamed for not shaving his hair when he was young.

Hopefully we won’t need to come to this and that he will grow up with thick and beautiful hair.
