United Square’s Baby Room is situated in a secluded corner in the Connectz section on the ground floor, where most of the specialty shops for children and maternity are situated. There were signs pointing towards the room so though it might take a while for one to navigate there, one will eventually be able to locate it.
The moment we stepped into the Baby Room, we were welcomed with dim but cosy lightings and a short but cushioned bench. The rubbish bin for the soiled diapers was situated on the wall opposite the entrance, which was not a good location in my opinion, as the smell from the bin was diffused into the area around it, which was just beside the nursing rooms.
On our left were the sinks and changing mats. The covered mats provided some privacy for the baby/toddler while he or she was being changed. There was also a hands-free hand towel dispenser to the left of the sink, near the entrance of the room.
What’s most welcoming was the hot and cold water dispenser, which was especially essential when parents ran out of hot water for their children’s feed. Unfortunately, the dispenser seemed to be misused by some of the staff in the complex, as we had witnessed them collecting hot water there. Given the rather petite size of the dispenser, I doubt it would be long when the water would run out if it was not refilled regularly.
Beside the dispenser stood three nursing rooms equipped with locks, and each offered a comfortable cushioned chair and a small shelf to put one’s small stuffs on.
Our overall experience there was comfortable and relaxed, and the water dispenser surely added to the good impression. The faint pungent smell from the bin spoilt the experience somewhat though.
