This week, Darius is 2 months old!
Though it’s only a short period, we felt that he has been with us for a long long time because we looked after him everyday since his birth.
I’m getting accustomed to his ‘signs’, as in what different cries stand for and what he might want. Compared to the previous month, it’s much easier now. Only occcasionally will he enter into the ‘I-don’t-know-what-he-wants’ mode.
His development at 2 months old:
- Vocalizes: ‘coos’ and gurgles
- Able to hold his head steady
- Hold his head up for short period while on tummy
- Visually tracks moving objects (able to track the same colour bear going round on the mobile or us moving around him)
- Notices his hands (always swiping his pacifier off with his hand or rubbing his eyes when sleepy)
- Make smoother movements
- Smiles, laugh sometimes by himself or when we talk/smile at him
- Likes to turn towards source of sound
- Sensitive to new/sudden sound, will jerk awake while sleeping
Behaviour at 2 months old:
- Often tries to respond to the person talking to him with coos or just talk when eye contact is made
- Sometimes watches my mouth when I speak to him
- Very sensitive to hunger, cry yelling very loudly with a lot of tears as if in pain
- Able to sleep through the night for five to six hours (last feed around 9/10pm til early morning around 4/5am)
- Able to be by himself for longer period, observing the surroundings and vocalising his monologue. Thus need less carrying.
- Is more aware of us now as he’ll search around for us and look us in the eye.
Especially he always likes to look at us intensely like this for a long time. Wonder what he’s thinking?

Hubby termed it, “心灵交流”, interaction without speech…hee
Physical Development:
- He drinks 100ml per feed at 2 hour intervals
- He has grown more hair above his forehead
- He measures about 60cm in height (We measured him)
