Our little Dar is often hungry, probably due to him being very active when he’s awake, swinging his arms and legs and moving his head around.
We have a feeding schedule book to record daily his feeding times and milk intake and a note book to record his diaper changing timings. These are pretty useful as if the timing of 2 hours for a feed is not up yet, we can assess that he’s crying for other reasons. It’s also useful for noting the amount of milk he drinks.
For the past four days, he has been drinking 110ml of milk (about 4 oz) in the daytime, but only 80-90ml at night. We decided to give him more because he was still searching for the teat (his head twist left and right with mouth opening) even after drinking 90ml of milk.
Hmm, heard from my SIL that her 4 month old baby is drinking 4oz. If our Dar is drinking 4oz when he’s just about one month old, then how much will he drink later on? Will he grow to be too fat? er, is it even normal? When Vince told his colleagues, they were surprised to hear that our Dar was drinking 90/100ml at only a few weeks old.
Though with a large milk intake, needing to feed at every 2 hours, he still look alright, not too chubby. Only his cheeks are chubbier now and his thighs are gaining some fat. I guess he probably have a high metabolism rate and he’s too alert and active.
