Catherine mentioned the Winnie The Pooh Bumper Playmat from an online company, ‘Small Small World‘ to me a few months back. There’s several designs but it must be Pooh because she loves it. Though it looked nice, I thought it was too expensive ($149) for such a mat, where we can easily pay less than S$20 for an ordinary jigsaw-puzzle type (usually with numbers or alphabets) elsewhere. Later, Catherine also felt it was too expensive. Moreover, with the alphabets/numbers, we can let our baby familiarise himself with them and learn whilst he play, so she forgo the idea of buying it.
Nevertheless, despite seeing the jigsaw types on sale at several shops, we still have not bought any, thinking that it was probably too early to get for our unborn baby. He wouldn’t be able to do much playing til after three months.
It was during the Expo’s Babycare Festival that we came across this stall selling the same mats, at the same S$149 price. Coincidentally, they were putting this Pooh Bear mat on the floor and I managed to have a good look at how it looked in reality. I also had a chance to have a feel of the mat.
I was pretty satisfied with the quality and design of the mat, and thought that this mat could help beautify our living room too when we lay it on the floor, as opposed to those alphabets types. So I was pretty tempted to get it at the spot. They mentioned that they were currently out of stock for this design but would be getting them pretty soon, and were offering free home delivery.
Just when I was about to place my order, Catherine nudged me and told me that the Small Small World website was selling at the same price with free delivery too. I agreed that we were buying too many things at the fair and it would probably be nicer to think over our purchase of this playmat first.
It was until last week that this came across my mind again. When Catherine showed me the website. I decided to pick up this mat despite its price, and so we placed an order online and waited for their staff to call us.
The staff called us few days later and informed us the design was currently out of stock (same source as the stall?) but would be arriving early this week. She then called again on Tuesday and told us the mat would be delivered on Thursday.
It came folded and packed in a bag.
When I arrived home later that evening, we opened up the mat and saw sunken parts along the folding lines. Worried that the sunken parts would be a permanent flaw, I called up Small Small World and she informed me that these sunken parts is due to folding it in the packaging bag. It would gradually disappear with use by placing it flat on the floor.
Reassured, I finally had a good feel of the mat by lying down on it. It wasn’t as thick or soft as I thought, but it was probably designed for the comfort and safety of a baby/toddler.
This is how it looks. We intend to place it beside a wall.
Anyway for now, we folded the mat back to its original packaging and stored it into our wardrobe, only to open it when the time comes.
Till then!

I see; I sure hope it will be worth the money too. They have a few other designs but both Cat and I only like this design still. ^^
