I’m going to the BabyCare Festival or Mother and Baby Fair in Singapore Expo today! Let’s see what I’ll come back with! I’m interested in the Mustela products, checking out the thermometer and the Moms in Minds Sling. Will update this post later withpictures and my experience. ![]()
Update!!!
It was a tiring but fun day. God was kind on us, sending down the heavy rain only when we sat in the car prepared to go home.
The fair wasn’t that big or crowded contrary to what I thought. But I had done some reasearch and knew what I wanted to get so we had a comfortable time cruising to the booths and getting them right away. We had also saved buying for this fair so we had many things to get.

They gave out door gifts and both of us got a pack each. We started from 11am and went home at 3 plus.
1) What we took the most time with was Bumwear cloth diapers. I didn’t went to the fair with the intention of buying it so we had to decide on the spot and well, we took a looong time deciding. We went back three times, 2nd time to purchase these waterproof wetbags(2@$26. U.P. 1@$19.90) which I had intended to get, got more information…

and bought them on the third.
So this is what we had gotten: The trial Package B with 6 pieces (mixed 4 petite size with 2 one-size diapers and 18 inserts. (6 small and 12 big ones- cos the boss says big ones can be used on small size too). 3 inserts were given free at the fair. At $229. (U.P @ $276- save $47)

I first knew of this when Karen Cheng blogged about it. It caught my interest with the interesting concept and creative colours. I wanted it soon after. However, surfing forums and talking to people got me discouraged. Have to use water lah, have to wash often and it’s really tedious to do it.. And though it’s supposed to be environmentally friendly in that disposable diapers produces waste, we are still using water to wash them and that’s not conserving. (I don’t think I would want to wash those with my ordinary clothes.. hmm.)
So if we are not environmental conscious, why should we use it? I think it’s the fact that for disposables, we are quickly using something and throwing it away. When hubby went to the booth and saw the demo on how it’s done, he was immediately hooked on to the idea and got more enthusiastic than me. Thanks to him, I renewed my interest in Bumwear.I had been telling him about this but he only liked it when he saw the actual. He does not like to waste things too and he felt that using disposables and throwing them quickly is a waste. In fact, we are not so concerned about the baby’s bum comfort(bumwear supposedly prevent nappy rash)…haha. cos people around us are all using disposables and we didn’t hear anything bad from them.
We took a long time deciding how we intend to use it, and how many pieces should we get. Everytime we purchase something, we usually take a long time to decide so as not to regret our decision. I think most of the time, salespeople are fed up with us.. haha.
And yup, we will still be using disposable diapers at certain times and co-use with these cloth diapers. The trial package is more for us to try out whether it’s good and functional for us. I don’t think the amount is enough. If it’s really that good, maybe we’ll get more and we can also save on some disposables = save money.
2) Mustela Products & Palmer’s Cream
The nipple balm is for breastfeeding and selling at $13.(U.P $18). We also bought the vitamin barrier cream (@$10.50 for babies bottom to prevent nappy rash (cos we would be using disposables too) and a pack of 6 trial sizes of their other products, sun protection and cleansing fluid. (@$6)
Palmer’s StretchMark Cream @$18 (U.P about $21) comes with bust firming cream free. Bought one recently but since this is discounted, just get it first. One tube lasts me about two months when use twice daily.

3) The BabySafe pillow (molded to prevent flat head syndrome and 100%natural latex) cost $12 and their pillow cases @ $6.00 each. Two Baby Safe Snug Wraps @$13 each.

4) Cadi Ear&Forehead Thermometer @$79(U.P. $96) plus a free thermoflask.

5) Moms In Mind Sling @ $40. (specially waited for this fair to get it! U.P $45.90)

7) Mailing List Signup with Free Pack

Two cute baby socks @ 2 for $5.50.

We had quite a lot of savings from this and overall, it was fun to shop! Still waiting for the new wardrobe to arrive so we can start putting these things inside.

It was indeed a fulfilling trip; didn’t expect much to see or buy but in the end we spent several hours in there with lots to do. ^^ Was a much more fruitful trip than to Takashimaya’s Baby Fair.
During this Baby Festival, I also got to try out the Combi strollers at one of the booths, finally getting a chance to learn how to manipulate these ‘gadgets’. Was quite fun and I had my eyes upon one of the strollers under the Sportives series.
