Initially we were thinking that it’s still too early to find baby names but I can’t resist searching for names and putting aside my work… haha.
As we are Catholic, it would be nicer to choose a catholic baby name from a saint. Hence, I found http://www.catholic.org/saints/stindex.php?lst=C which has such a huge collection of nice names with stories about the saints. Also found this site: http://www.yeahbaby.com/boy-names.php?page=142 which help picked out some nice names.
So far, Vincent’s choices are:
BOY-Aaron/Chad/Darius/Jeremy/Jude
GIRL-Adela/Adele/Flora/Sabina/Serena
I like ‘Darius’ Chua and ‘Flora’ from his choices. I think ‘A’ names are too common so I don’t want them. My other nephew has a ‘J’ name already so most likely no ‘J’ too. Besides, I had a student named ‘Jeremy’ and he gave me a bad impression. Jude and Chad are one syllabus which doesn’t sound nice when pronounced. (Jude Chua, Chad Chua.) I think a two syllabus would sound better with surname Chua.
My personal favourite:
BOY: Felix/ Caian Chua
GIRL: Flora/Emily Chua
For Chinese Baby Names, I’ve already decided on the girl’s names long ago: Yun Xi 云晞(dawn). As for the boy’s names, I’m cracking my head cos it’s quite difficult to find a nice but too common name but think will leave it to Vincent to decide then. Shortlisted ‘Xuan轩’, ‘Kang康’ and ‘Feng峰’ for now.

Haha looks like we more or less got our girl’s name ready.
About our boy’s name, ‘Xuan轩’ would be my more preferred name, until a better word comes to my mind. Though it might sound a bit feminine at first, I’m sure it will sound pleasant to the ears after a while.
haha I had classmate called Eric and Kelvin, I have bad impression on them so I don’t like Eric and Kelvin. Adele and Emily are on my list too. I like Darius, Adele, Emily and Flora from your choices. I like D for boy’s name. J has a lot of choices but I don’t like J because hubby, SIL, and his cousins’ (his mom’s side) names all start with J.
I think it is easier to find girl’s name than boy. I have long list for girl’s names and nothing for boy. I think if I have a daughter I will give her middle name too so I can use more names from my list lol.
Just wondering, is your name on birth cert : English + Chinese name? I discussed with hubby last time, he wanted chinese name on birth cert, but I want just English name and surname. We then decided English + Chinese name but then it will be so long.
My name is only my dialect name plus chinese name. Always regret that my parents didn’t put my christian name on it so on my I/C there’s no christian name too and thus people always call me by my dialect name.
Will want to change my I/C name to include Catherine too.
I also find it easier to put girl’s name. I like quite a few too. But if you put middle name, won’t it be very long and troublesome for her to fill in forms later in life? hee. I don’t like Eric or Kelvin too.. ^_~
haha If I put middle name it will be like Alice Stephanie Yong. Not Alice Stephanie Yong Ie Ching. I like it just simple on birth cert like Alice Yong but hubby wants Yong Ie Ching.
Most mothers avoid names start with A because in school A always be called first.
Oh wrong, that only happens in Indo I think. Names are listed based on first name, not last name.
oh. that’s cool. Yar, if there’s no chinese name, then it wouldn’t be too long. I think it’s also acceptable cos my friend didn’t have chinese name in his BC too, only christian name plus surname.
