The clinic was empty and we were the only ones entering it. I thought I’ll see at least some people like what I’ve encountered in the previous gynae clinic. Hmm..Maybe because it’s a weekday? Hubby specially took half-day leave to accompany me to go to the clinic after seeing my forlorn and anxious face. I just can’t wait til another week to know how’s the situation like.. am worried abt all ectopic pregnancy, whether I’ve misread the kit.. blah blah…So the clinic we chosen isn’t that popular? Maybe… her clinic is still new. The good thing is we have a shorter waiting time.
Later, I found out that there’s another couple in the room. But there ain’t any after us. I took my urine test for sugar and protein levels, height, weight, blood pressure and awaited our turn.
Dr Adelina Wong greeted me with a huge smile. She’s pretty and friendly!
We went through some information abt my medical history and drug allergy and we started the scan.
It was a tummy scan, not a vaginal one as I had previously so I was surprised. As she searched around, I anxiously looked for any ‘signs’… nothing hmm. Then she started asking me, when I took the urine tests. I was a bit worried and said, ‘on the 15th’.. is it very positive or faint? We told her, very positive and two tests on the same day. My heart was in my throat. Are there problems? Can’t find the sac..dun tell me…?
“Er.. don’t have?” I asked worriedly.
Suddenly, she replied, “Have.. have..here it is!” She pointed to a little black portion on the monitor while I looked at it. Can’t really decipher much though cos the screen wasn’t too clear so I was like.. where where?? Eventually, she zoomed in for me and marked the spot with the mouse.

I thumped my heart, saying, “scared me..”. Hubby also got a scare at first but we all started laughing once it was found. She mentioned that it’s only about 1.2cm, like a tiny pea, very early. Can’t even see the baby itself, just the sac.It is also located in the uterus and not outside which is my main concern actually. I was worried it might be ectopic or something.
Though it’s too small at the moment, I’m glad we still went for the ultrascan to get a peace of mind. The next appt will be in 3 weeks time and by then I’ll be into the 2nd month and will be able to see the foetus more or hear the heartbeat.

She supplied me tablets to eat once daily which contains folic acid and Vitamin B in one tablet to help the foetus prevent spinal defects and ease my nausea respectively. We also questioned her abt foodstuff and got some general advices.
So this is the start of a great journey….^_~ Finally.

Our emotions sure had a roller coaster ride that day at our first visit, during the ultrascan session.
The gynae was asking questions while she was performing the ultrascan. I was feeling a little worried at that time, and many possibilities went through my mind, though I kept thinking on the bright side.
Fortunately the gynae soon found the raisin-sized spot which indicated the foetus sac. We could finally breathe a sign of relief.
After the scan, we took the opportunity to ask our doctor about some of the restricted food, such as peanuts, green tea and cold drinks. We learnt quite a bit from her.
Anyway, our next appointment would be at Woodlands on 13th December 2007, three weeks from now, and it happened to be a clinic I often visited before we were married. Looking forward to that day.
