To equip with knowledge

I’ve been suffering from sneezing fits these few days. Even right before knowing abt the results, from previous week til now, I’ve been sneezing when I woke up in the morning. So I thought it must be due to the weird melon smell freshener which we put up to blow around the room underneath the air-con. I asked hubby to remove it and change to another one called Cool Mist. The smell turned better but I still sneeze. Hubby’s nose also started having flu symptoms. As I read up on many online places about the Dos and Don’ts of pregnancy, I came across this article saying that air fresheners or aerosols are very bad for the baby. They are chemicals and when we inhale, it may harm the foetus. Oh my! I immediately asked hubby to remove the Cool Mist…hoping that no harm has been done.

But… after removal, we still continue the flu like symptoms. Hubby took medicine but still didn’t recover and we both were sneezing and him having running nose the whole of saturday and sunday. Yesterday night, we decide we’ll air the room and use fan instead to sleep. In the middle of the night I woke up a little hot due to the comforter. However this morning, my symptoms seemed to be gone. I wasn’t sneezing anymore. Hmm…so the aircon was the culprit?

I’ve read that the reason we would feel cold in the first trimester was because the foetus is not able to maintain his own body temperature as he have not developed yet so he used our bodily heat. Read from a forum that cold shivers are quite common and that’s what I’m experiencing now. I am able to sleep in my room without any fan and when I go out, I could keep my hair down and still feel alright. In the past, I’ll be sweating huge drops. I get cold when the fan blew at me.

I have tons of work to do but can’t concentrate to finish them since I’m feeling very tired and restless. After my afternoon meal, I’ll doze off on the sofa and wake up feeling tired even though I slept til quite late in the morning. Then, I kept surfing the net to find out information abt things to eat or not to eat, things to do and read other moms’ experiences. I have to do work but I want to equip myself with enough knowledge so everything will go well for the developing baby.

Hubby’s going to borrow some books from the library this evening. Right now, I’m waiting for him to buy back dinner since we didn’t manage to go to the market yesterday. I’ll prefer to cook my own meal since I can eat a healthy meal but will have to do the marketing tomorrow after visit to PIL’s place.
